logixstudios.com - OLD, OLD, OLDWhy is it that my own website is always the one I have the hardest time with? I don’t get it. I’ve decided that the current incarnation of Logix is way outdated. It’s been around for over 3 years now, so I think it’s time to freshen it up a bit. With the start of TAGit and The Real Connection, as well as this blog, I need to provide Logix with a new face. I do know that I will be breaking up Logix into two divisions. Logixstudios.com will be the design and development side of things whereas logixstudios.net will be the hosting side. The reason I want to take things down that path is so I can go a little wilder with the design of the .com side and stay a little more grounded with the business end of the .net side.

Now where to start… I always try to develop a theme. So far I’ve come to the conclusion that I want the design of logixstudios.com to be fun and flashy. Entertaining and witty. Exciting and new. Sounds easy right? Theme, what theme? That’s where I’m stuck. I’ve shuffled through several ideas so far. Cars, I love cars right? Why not made the design car related? Hmm, I don’t know. I really like vintage/retro photography. Why not use something vintagey (is that a word?). Ooh, or how about a bright, flashy, Las Vegas casino theme? How would that fit into a community like Chatham though? Do I even want it to fit into a community like Chatham? I don’t want to limit my scope. How about billiards? No. Foosball? I don’t think so. I’d like to work in some video so maybe do some video-rich site that uses a lot of motion? What kind of setting would I want? Hmm…

As you can see I’m having a tough go at it. It’s all about the brainstorming. It’s a big challenge when I’m a team of one. That’s why I usually drag my girlfriend into the middle of it. Unwillingly I’m sure. Let’s see what she says. I’ll report back on the brainstorm session tomorrow.

I came across your blog while browsing through Technorati, and I just wanted to say that I can certainly empathize with you! In fact, I would venture to guess that anyone who has ever tried to run a commercial website has faced these kinds of problems at one time or another. Good luck to you! I’m sure it will all come together eventually.
